Hotel Guests of Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Treated by Acrobatic Lion Dance
PUTRAJAYA, 18 Feb 2013 – The guests of Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside were surely entertained by the sight, courtesy of the lion dance troupe of Shaolin GC Acedemy to welcome the auspicious Year of Snake.
The hotel has been having the lion dance performance annually during Chinese New Year for the past 4 years since opening. “Lion dance is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture in which performers mimic a lion’s movements in a costume. The dance is believed to bring good luck and fortune for the New Year,” said the hotel’s General Manager Franck Loison, who joined the festivities by giving offerings to the lions.
The lion dance ceremony had two red lions making its round for the ritual blessing of back offices and restaurants to bring in some good luck and prosperity. This merrier ceremony was witnessed and joined by fellow hotel guests and the team members. After the blessing segment throughout the hotel, the troupe adjourned to the hotel’s main entrance for the finale act. The finale act had the lion danced on the bench and table for some stunning acrobatic acts to secure the ang pow that was given as a sign of appreciation from the hotel for its blessing ritual.
The two lions continued their performance as they danced with agility and vigour to the thunderous beat of drums and the clashing of cymbals, which, according to Chinese belief, signifies good luck to all. The show ended with a ‘WOW’ effect shown on the guests’ face.
